  • Usage Data — including pages visited, features used, course activity, device information, browser type, and IP address, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see our [Cookie Policy]).
  • Transaction Data — such as purchase history, subscription details, and payment confirmations. Note: full payment card details are processed by our third-party payment processors and are not stored directly by Aprantout.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Services;

  • Communicate updates, service notices, and customer support;
  • Ensure platform security and prevent fraud;
  • Personalize your learning experience and course recommendations;

We collect and use personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and only to the extent necessary for those purposes, as required under Quebec's Law 25.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Where applicable, we rely on the following grounds to process your personal information: your consent, the necessity of processing to perform a contract with you (e.g., providing the Services), our legitimate interests (e.g., improving and securing the platform), and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Automated Decision-Making

If Aprantout uses your personal information to render a decision based exclusively on automated processing (for example, automated course recommendations or eligibility assessments), we will, upon request, inform you of the personal information used to render the decision, the reasons and principal factors that led to it, and your right to have the information corrected.

6. Sharing of Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service Providers — such as payment processors, hosting providers, and analytics tools, who process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect it;
  • Legal Authorities — where required to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or governmental request;
  • Advertising Partners — only where you have provided consent.

We never sell personal information.

Cross-Border and Outside-Quebec Transfers

If your personal information is transferred to a service provider or stored on servers located outside Quebec (including elsewhere in Canada or internationally), we conduct an assessment to confirm that the information will receive a level of protection equivalent to that required under Quebec law before the transfer occurs, as required by Law 25.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. When personal information is no longer needed, we securely delete, destroy, or anonymize it in accordance with our internal retention practices.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request deletion of your personal information (the "right to be forgotten"), subject to legal or contractual retention requirements;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Withdraw consent to processing at any time, where consent is the basis for processing;
  • Request data portability, i.e., receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format, and request that it be transferred to another organization, where technically feasible;
  • Request de-indexing of certain information in specific circumstances provided under Quebec law.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [privacy@aprantout.com]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days under Quebec's Law 25).

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI), or, for matters outside Quebec's jurisdiction, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures, including encryption, access controls, and regular security assessments, to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

10. Confidentiality Incidents

In the event of a confidentiality incident (data breach) that presents a risk of serious injury to affected individuals, we will notify the CAI and affected individuals as required under Law 25, and take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of harm.

11. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed at children under the age of 14 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction) without parental or guardian consent. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.

12. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Services. For details on the types of cookies we use and how to manage your preferences, please see our [Cookie Policy].
